Bu çalışmanın amacı yerçekimi olgusuyla ilgili lise öğrencilerinin bilgi düzeylerinin ve yerçekimi algılarının belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada yerçekimi ve algı ile ilgili kavramlar incelenmiştir. Yerçekimine ait temel kavramlar açıklandıktan sonra, Dünya'nın şekli ve yerçekimindeki farklılıklar hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Algıyla ilgili temel kavramlara yer verilerek bunlar alt başlıklar halinde açıklanmıştır. Birtakım senaryolar üzerinden hazırlanan 17 soru her sınıf seviyesindeki 19 gönüllü lise öğrencisine ve iki fizik öğretmenine yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yoluyla yöneltilmiş ve 18. soruyla da günlük yaşam deneyimlerinden yerçekiminin varlığına dair bir resim çizmeleri istenmiştir.
