Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Pekin ördeklerinde büyüme hormonu (BH) geninin 2’inci, 3’üncü ve 4’üncü intronlarındaki polimorfizmleri araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla her iki cinsiyetten yetişkin Pekin ördeklerinden 5-10 ml kan alınmıştır. BH geninin 2’inci, 3’üncü ve 4’üncü intronlarındaki genetik polimorfizm, üç primer çifti ile PCR-RFLP yönteminde BsmF1 enzimi kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmaların sonucunda sadece 2’inci intron bölgesinden çoğaltılmış bölgeler polimorfizm göstermişlerdir. 3’üncü ve 4’üncü intronlarda ise genetik varyasyon gözlenmemiştir. 2’inci intron bölgesinde üç genotip (TT, CT ve CC) gözlenmiş ve T ve C allellerinin frekansları sırasıyla 0,7521 ve 0,2479 olarak hesaplanmıştır.
