The archaeological site of the ancient colonia Augusta Emerita (Merida, Spain), offers one of the most spectacular mosaics sets in the Roman West. However, a study in detail about the mosaic production of Merida is still necessary, which should consider its workshops as well as the evolution of both the techniques and the style.
