Aim: Until recently, adverse effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on osseointegration of dental implants were unknown. Hence, this study investigated the short- and long-term effects of a 7-day regimen of parecoxib and diclofenac sodium on osseointegration of dental implants in calvarial bone. Material and methods: Eighteen New Zealand White rabbits were randomly allocated into three groups (each n = 6): Control group with no postoperative pain killers (Group A), diclofenac group (Group B) and parecoxib group (Group C).
