This thesis addresses the question, "Can a social studies learning activity, using film, help students become more aware of their cultural attitudes?" The research explores the use of the teaching tool, film, in combination with a learning activity to provide students with a valuable learning experience that encourages them to examine their cultural attitudes. This thesis argues for further inclusion of cultural attitude awareness in the social studies programs as part of citizenship education. The learning activity designed and used in this thesis proves to be a valuable way to encourage student cultural attitude awareness.
