FOREST FIRES EFFECTS ON FAUNA

Yangın Türkiye ormanları için en büyük tehdit durumundadır. Türkiye, iklimi, bitki örtüsü ve coğrafi konumu nedeniyle yangına hassas bir bölgededir. Özellikle Akdeniz ve Ege bölgeleri yangın yönünden riskli bölgelerdir. Türkiyede yıllık yangın istatistikleri diğer Akdeniz ülkelerindeki gibi yüksektir. Orman yangınları yanan alandaki florayı, faunayı ve tüm orman ekosistemini etkiler. Bu etki kimi zaman olumsuz iken kimi zaman olumlu olabilmektedir. Bu durum hayvan türü, yangının şekli ve şiddeti ile bitki örtüsüne göre değişiklik gösterebilmektedir. Türkiye fauna biyoçeşitliliği açısından son derece zengin bir bölgedir. Ülkemiz bünyesinde 166 memeli, 466 kuş ve 129 sürüngen türü barındırmaktadır. Tüm bu türlerin yangınla ilişkisi ülkemiz faunası yönünden büyük önem taşımaktadır.Fire is the biggest threat for forests in Turkey. Sometimes this effect can be positive, sometimes negative, This situation may change according to animal species, fire type, fire severity and vegetation.
