This article explores the pervasiveness of the concept of “Innovation Diplomacy” (ID) used by Brazil to insert itself in the international context of Science diplomacy (SD), within the outlook of academic research of international research in science, technology and innovation (ST&I). Divided into three sections, the first looks to the origin of the term “Science diplomacy”, its definition and use as an instrument of foreign policy.
