This thesis examines the development of Ancient Greek textbooks based on their evaluation criteria. More specifically, a table including 45 criteria was designed and formulated in order to categorize and explore the textbooks of Ancient Greek of the first grade of high school issued from the establishment of the constitution of the modern Greek state to date. Regarding to the theoretical framework, concepts and themes are identified, such as the school textbook and its functions, the curriculum and the historical evolution of Greek education.
