Archaeological Research Services Ltd was commissioned by Locus Consulting Ltd to undertake archaeological trial trench evaluations and strip, map, and sample excavations on land at Bakewell Road, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 2JF. The works were undertaken in part fulfilment of conditions attached to outline planning consent 15/00814/OUT for the construction of 57 dwellings. Though no archaeological features were known to be present in the proposed development area, the site lies within an area of archaeological potential
