Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is considered as the most common symptoms complained of and cause greater interference than other gynecological complaints in developing countries. The body mass index <20 kg/m2 is known as a risk factor for primary dysmenorrhea. Some researches on relation between dysmenorrhea and BMI obtained different results. This study aims to learn the differences in the prevalence of dysmenorrhea between underweight and normal body mass index in adolescent. .Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 134 female students in SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta during October 26th through November 7th using purposive sampling.
