This chapter examines the preliminary findings of a recent user survey of the staff use of the virtual learning environment (VLE) Blackboard™ in University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Many Higher Education Institutes (HEI) are in the early stages of adoption and implementation of such systems. The results from this small survey serve to reflect a portion of the current dilemmas facing the individual academic and institute.Higher Education Authorit
