The relation between mathematical achievement in early childhood and future academic success is well established. However, the effect of instruction on mathematical performance is less well-documented and often reliant upon self-report instruction measures and standardized achievement measures. Therefore, this study seeks to use observational data to examine the role of classroom mathematics instruction in the growth of adaptive early mathematical skills across the kindergarten school year.
