The category of young people not in employment, education or training, often known by the acronym NEET, has become a target of public policies to combat the integration difficulties faced by young people in different countries. However, the category remains heavily criticised due to the heterogeneity of the sub-populations that comprise it. Using the Enquête nationale sur les ressources des jeunes (National survey on the resources of young adults, ENRJ), this article addresses the diversity of NEET situations in relation to their risk of social exclusion.
