International audienceSurface under vineyards are multiplying in the coastal region of eastern Uruguay and agroclimatic studies are being carried out in a commercial vineyard in the department of Maldonado. It aims at developing knowledge on climate of the new region compared to the traditional wine region of Uruguay and on the grapevine phenological responses to interannual climatic variability. Tannat and Albariño cultivars were monitored and climatic data were analysed during the 2012-2018 period. Results showed this coastal region is cooler than the traditional winegrowing region of the country.
