International audienceThe concept of intersectionality has brought forward a new way of tackling oppression, discrimination and equality and diversity matters, that is less segmented and more dynamic. In the article, the concept is applied to the situation of women lawyers and judges in England and Wales, whose identity is multilayered (their gender identity being intertwined with one or several other characteristics potentially generating discrimination), in the current era. The evolution(s) of the concept are addressed, as well as the critiques that have been directed its way in the most contemporary debates.
