Évolution des formes d’habitations, territoires et contextes environnementaux du Ve au IIIe millénaire av. J.-C. en Auvergne

International audienceAn assessment on the evolution of the forms of domestic architecture identified in the Auvergne region between the 5th and the 3rd millenium B.C. is proposed. It concerns in particular domestic habitats within their territory. The recurrences and particularities which characterize these settlements reflect several observations : If the architectural forms vary and evolve from one period to another, they relate mainly to buildings supported by oak posts. Moreover, between 4700 and 3600 years B.C., the forms of architecture are similar to constructions from southern and eastern regions of France, and contrary to those built later on, between 2800 and 2500 B.C, which show more resemblance to buildings from the north of France. The current data relating to the shapes of habitat and the technical systems, although consequent, are too rare to be modeled. In order to answer the question of status and function of the habitats within the framework of their territory, two Late Chasséen villages are used as examples. These two sites revealed several driven post buildings, of the same form and module, which illustrate certain constants in the implementation of architectural practices between 4000 and 3600 B.C. in the lower Auvergne. Nevertheless the cultural components of the assemblages of material culture vary from one site to another. These settlements correspond as either political centres, or central sites.Un bilan sur l’évolution des formes d’habitations identifiées en Auvergne du Ve au IIIe millénaire av. J.-C. est proposé. Il porte en particulier sur les habitats domestiques au sein de leur territoire. Les récurrences et les particularismes qui caractérisent ces habitats rendent compte de plusieurs constats : Si les formes architecturales varient et évoluent d’une période à l’autre, elles concernent principalement les bâtiments sur poteaux porteurs érigés en bois de chêne. En outre, entre 4700 et 3600 ans av. J.-C., les formes d’architecture et leurs compositions renvoient aux constructions méridionales et orientales contrairement à celles plus tardives, entre 2800 et 2500 ans av. J.-C., qui se rapportent davantage aux bâtiments du nord de la France. Les données actuelles portant sur les formes d’habitat et sur les systèmes techniques, bien qu’assez fournies, sont trop peu nombreuses pour être modélisées. Afin de répondre à la question sur le statut et à la fonction des habitats dans le cadre de leur territoire, deux villages du Chasséen récent sont pris à titre d’exemples. Ces deux sites ont livré quelques bâtiments sur poteaux plantés, de même forme et de même module, qui témoignent d’une certaine constante dans la mise en œuvre des pratiques architecturales entre 4000 et 3600 ans av. J.-C. en Basse-Auvergne. Néanmoins les composantes culturelles des assemblages de mobilier varient sensiblement d’un site à l’autre.
