Thesis (MA)--PU vir CHO, 1982Poets often express their ideas on the creative process in essays or poems. Martinus Nijhoff is no exception. He has done just this in his essays on prose, drama and poetry. It naturally follows that the scope of this study would be too extensive if all the genres were examined. It was therefore decided to concentrate on Nijhoff's views on poetry. His essays on poetry cover a wide range. There are views on individual volumes of poetry, and then not only in Dutch but also in German, English and French. Début anthologies have had a fair share of reviews.
