SINKRETISME ANTARA SISTEM RELIGI DENGAN ADAT ISTIADAT JAWA DALAM RITUAL KEAGAMAAN (Studi Etnografi Pada Pelaku Ritual di Gunung Kawi)

This study aims to answer research questions about syncretism that occurred in Wonosari Village between the religious system and Javanese customs and the causes of such syncretism. This research was conducted in the inland areas of Gunung Kawi conducted in Wonosari Village, Wonosari District, Malang. The time for conducting field studies is from February to June 2020. As the subject of the study are five rituals that are visitors from various regions, two grave caretakers, two from the village government, and one Gunung Kawi tour guide. The main data collection methods are observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. In this study using qualitative research with ethnographic research types. The results of the study prove that religion and culture are two dimensions that are difficult to resolve, which influence each other. Culture can influence religion so that religion enables the religious system in providing meaning to religious values. However, the two real articulations of religion and culture will be interconnected if the cultural dimension has a role for religion both with the value of rituality and the social system governed by the order of religious communities. This research uses the theory of religion initiated by Clifford Geertz. Geertz's thinking is more to the view of the relationship between Islamic tradition and local nuances syncretism. Syncretism is a mixture of two or more traditions, in a certain sense the combination of two or more cultures, for example the culture of animism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam. The existence of a combination of beliefs that makes the Wonosari Village community highly upholds among religious people, as evidenced by the many places of worship such as mosques, churches, temples, temples, temples and others. The strength of this cyclism is what keeps Javanese traditions or Javanese culture alive and dynamically developing
