International audienceThis paper suggests that Jean de Gagny may have been involved in the production of the famous greek types called « les Grecs du Roi » and that he may have created a printing house for the future Royal College in Paris. Claude Garamont and his brother-in-law Pierre Gaultier seem to have been recruited to establish this workshop in the Hôtel de Nesle in 1541. The study of Garamont’s personal network shows that this forgotten project may be a key to understand some intriguing editorial events of the 1540s : the publication of Guido Guidi’s Chirurgia by Pierre Gaultier (1544), the printing of the Songe de Poliphile (Hypnerotomachia poliphili, 1546) by Louis Cyaneus or the publishing activities of Jean Barbé and Robert Es...
