This dissertation reports results of a study that was carried to assess the level and determinants of job satisfaction among nurses at the Muhimbili National Hospital by using Herzberg’s job motivators and hygiene factors. Determinants selected for the study were socio-demographic characteristics such as sex, gender, marital status, work experience and level of education. A sample of 286 nurses was conveniently drawn from a population of 683 nurses at the hospital. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Independent two-sample t-test and one way ANOVA statistical techniques were used in the analysis. The results reveal that about half of the nurses at MNH are satisfied with their job.
