This article calls back first of all a set of facts relative to the main stakes considering sea and ocean so much on the economic point of view, in the scientific technological and innovative fields, in the governance aspects as also in the culture and international prestige ones. Then the article synthesizes several of the elements of the European study on the blue growth, the established priorities, the results of the study and its recommendations. The case of New Caledonia is then analyzed which shows that considering the 11 economic priorities identified by the European Union, 10 interest or may interest this ultra-marine country.
