Bündnis für nachhaltige Textilien

The Alliance for Sustainable Textiles is a multi-stakeholder partnership of around 120 companies, associations, non-governmental organisations, trade unions and standard organisations as well as the German Federal Government. They all work together to improve conditions in global textile production - from raw material production to disposal. The Textile Alliance was launched 2014 in response to the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory in Bangladesh. Inadequate social and environmental standards as well as child labour, inadequate occupational safety and building security, overtime, low wages, restricted rights of assembly, inadequate management of chemicals and waste water, high resource consumption and a large climate footprint are threats to workers and the environment. The actors have joined forces to jointly implement improvements along global value chains in the textile industry
