Add to ORKGDirector of Food Service at Jacksonville State College, James Haywood, was awarded the Golden Cup by the Coffee Brewing Institute, Inc. Only 2,000 cups had been issued in the United States and Jacksonville State was the first institution of higher learning to be honored. The plaque reads, 1963 Golden Cup Award Presented to Jacksonville State College Cafeteria Jacksonville, Alabama by The Coffee Brewing Institute, Inc. for producing a fine beverage coffee in accordance with the highest brewing standards. The presentation was made by Col. William Cline, left, official representative of the coffee growers and President Houston Cole, right, was present for the presentation.
