Brigadier General Joseph W. Burke, born February 18, 1835 and died November 7, 1900, was buried in the Jacksonville City Cemetery Burke family plot. There is also a historic marker for Joseph William Burke on the NE corner of the lawn of Bibb Graves Hall at Jacksonville State University. Shown is a tombstone inscribed, Genl. Joseph W.
