The place of arthroscopic debridement in the surgical treatment of the knee osteoarthritis

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı artroskopik debridman cerrahisine en uygun adayların belirlenmesidir. Yöntem: 1996-1999 arasındaki dönemde dİ2 osteoartriü nedeniyle artroskopik debridman uygulanan 51 hastanın 52 dizi retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. En kötü sonuçların obesite, varus angulasyonu ve grade 3-4 dejeneratif değişildikleri olan hastalar ile, ileri yaş grubunda olan hastalarda alındığı gözlendi. Bulgular: 17,2 aylık ortalama izleme süresi sonunda hastaların %60'ında sürekli memnuniyet bulunurken, ikinci bir ameliyata gerek duyulan hasta oranı %9,3 idi. Uygun seçilen hastalarda artroskopik debridmanın hala iyi bir alternatif tedavi yöntemi olduğu sonucuna varıldı.Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the best candidates of arthroscopic debridement surgery. Method: Between the period of 1996-1999, 52 knees in 51 patients who were operated on by arthroscopic debridement due to knee osteoarthritis were evaluated retrospectively. The worst results were obtained in patients who have varus angulation, obesity, grade 3-4 degenerative changes and also in patients who were in older age group. Results: At the end of 17,2 months avarage follow-up time, while %60 of the patients remain satisfied, the ratio of undergo a second operation was %9,3. Conclusion: It was concluded that arthroscopic debridement is still a valuable alternative in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee joint in carefully selected patients
