The long-term multigenerational impact of deaths on a normal, non-clinic family system is the focus of this investigation. The research approach is retrospective, employing an historical methodology to construct a chronological narrative of the death-events taking place in one family during the period 1850-1950. The data base for the study includes interviews with surviving family members and archival data such as wills, census data, tax records, deed records, cemetery inscriptions, death certificates, and autobiographical material.
