Problem. This study was an investigation of the present-day technical college system in Japan. The technical college is unique, and considerable investigation revealed that very little previous research has been conducted on the system. The system produces engineers two years faster than Japanese universities. Graduates receive and take part in more engineering class hours than their counterparts in universities. Method of Research. The sources of data used in this study were documents, interviews, and surveys. Questionnaires were developed for faculty and graduates and employers of graduates.
