978-9939-59-240-4International audienceThe article aims to present the main features of medieval architecture in the historic province called Tayk' in Armenian and Tao in Georgian, in the northeastern part of present-day Turkey. Situated on the borders of Armenia, Georgia and Byzantium, erected in the 10th century as a powerful principality under the aegis of an Iberian branch of the Bagratid dynasty, this province then had a mixed population, apparently mainly of Armenian origin, supplemented by Georgian immigrants and clergymen, who practised Georgian Orthodoxy and rites.
