Pollution minière: une méthodologie intégrée depuis l'analyse spatiale

International audienceOruro, in Bolivia, is a city situated in the center of a mining activity of more than 500 years, with exploitation of highly toxic minerals (Pb, Zn, As, Sb, Sn, etc.). A program of multidisciplinary research (TOXBOL program, financed by the French ANR) tries tounderstand the parameters of contamination and their impacts on the health of the children. The socio-geographer team turns to a study of the urban risk, by integrating some of its dimensions: the danger, the hazard, the socio economic and sanitary vulnerabilities, and the perception of the environment and the behavior of the populations. All these parameters results from different sources, but all are geo-referenced. The aim of this article is to describe a methodology of study of the urban risk, with the peculiarity that this risk is not a "catastrophic" one but a constant one. This methodology is based on field data, censuses, surveys and interviews, around the questions of perception of the problems of environment and health, all kind of data managed by a SIG with which it is possible to test hypotheses as overlapping of phenomena. We can so expect to understand what represents the contribution of each variable in the understanding of the pollution impact. The presentation will include 4 parts: context and theoretical situation in relation at the risk; methodology of study; discussion about the vulnerabilities from the cartographic study; the usage of the SIG in the understanding of the pollutions.Oruro, en Bolivie, est une ville construite autour d'une activité minière de plus de 500 ans, basée sur l'exploitation de complexes polymétalliques hautement toxiques (Pb, Zn, As, Sb, Sn, etc.). Un programme de recherche multidisciplinaire (programme TOXBOL, financé par l'ANR) tente de comprendre les paramètres de pollution et leurs impacts sur la santé des enfants. L'équipe de socio-géographes s'est orientée vers une étude du risque urbain, en intégrant plusieurs de ses dimensions : le danger, les aléas, les vulnérabilités socio économiques et sanitaires, la perception de l'environnement et le comportement des populations. Ces paramètres furent étudiés à partir de sources différentes, mais toutes géo-référencées. Le propos de cet article est de décrire une méthodologie d'étude du risque en milieu urbain, d'ordre rémanent et permanent mais non « catastrophique » ou aléatoire. Cette méthodologie est basée sur l'usage de données de terrain, de recensements, d'enquêtes et d'entrevues, autour des questions de perception des problèmes d'environnement et de santé, toutes gérées par un SIG avec lequel il est possible de tester des hypothèses quant à la superposition de phénomènes. Nous pourrons ainsi essayer de comprendre quels sont les apports de chaque variable dans la compréhension des effets de la pollution.
