National audienceA balanced diet is vital in maintaining the health of today’s students and of tomorrow’s families. In France, university canteens offer structured meals at a fixed moderate price (3.00€/meal). In 2007–2008, a dietary survey was conducted among students (n =3287) in the Aix-Marseille region, to examine whether eating regularly at the university canteen was associated with better compliance with the French Nutrition and Health Programme guidelines. The results showed that students eating at the university canteen at least three times a week, and those who ate there with pleasure, were more likely to follow the dietary guidelines.
