Las redes de sensores inalámbricos están destinadas a revolucionar nuestra manera de vivir, trabajar y relacionarnos con el entorno. Aunque este tipo de redes ha estado en el foco de la investigación científica durante la última década, su rendimiento en implementaciones prácticas está todavía muy por detrás de los resultados teóricos. Esto es en gran parte debido a los problemas prácticos que aparecen en entornos reales. Como resultado, su uso está generalmente limitado a aplicaciones simples de monitorización del entorno.
