Comportament mecànic-estructural dels edificis històrics de murs d'obra de fàbrica de maó de l'Eixample de Barcelona

After 150 years from the beginning of the construction of the Eixample of Barcelona. it has become an emblem of the city. In addition to the many urban planning virtues, l'Eixample has a value that is given by the formal and constructive uniformity that is caused by the abundance of its historical buildings. The district of l'Eixample has become a whole of heritage value that needs to be preserved. The increase in structural safety requirements motivated by the evolution of regulations often leads to conservation conflicts that have led to this thesis main objective which is to find and define the structural-mechanical behavior of the historical masonry buildings of Barcelona's Eixample. Therefore, the research starts with a representative sample of the whole that comes mainly from primary sources, mostly from surveys carried out in situ by the author. The sample contains buildings in each location in the urban block. From the sample, it is performed typological classification of the structural configuration that includes the main structural elements: location of the load-bearing walls, wall openings, beam directions. staircases and eventual propping. From the typological analysis, parametrized and representative building types that lead to a series of structural models are obtained. An elastic finite element calculation is run on the resulting models on vertical load regulatory actions. The thesis studies in detail the most critical points of each building type adapting the models to the different extreme sizes that occur in the sample in order to obtain the actual tensional ranges and assess the security conditions. Finally, the results of the analysis are contrasted with the reality of the pathological state of the buildings studied. The thesis describes the damage and the most common causes that generate it comparing them with the results of structural analysis models. The conclusions and contributions of the thesis include the following areas: sampling and typological definition of the historical building of l'Eixample, knowledge of the structural model, structural behavior, safety limits and conclusions regarding the pathological state. Contributions deepen in the knowledge of the historical building of l'Eixample and provide data on their behavior towards a more conscious conservation.Passat un segle i mig de l'inici de la construcció de l'Eixample aquest s'ha convertit en un dels emblemes de la ciutat. A més de les molles virtuts urbanistiques, es pot entendre que l'Eixample té un valor que li ve donat per la uniformitat formal i constructiva que proporciona l'abundància dels seus edificis històrics, constituint en la seva globalitat un valor patrimonial de necessària conservació. L'evolució dels marcs normatius i l'increment en les exigències en seguretat estructural han donat lloc a conflictes en la conservació que han motivat la present tesi l'objectiu principal de la qual és coneixer i definir al comportament mecànic-estructural de les estructures dels edificis històrics de murs d'bra de fabrica de maó de l'Eixample de Barcelona. A tal efecte es parteix d'una mostra representativa del conjunt que prové principalment de fonts primàries, majoritariament d'aixecaments in situ realitzats per la mateixa autora. La mostra conté tant edificis situats en banda com en xamfrà. A partir de la mostra es realitza una classificació tipològica de la configuració estructural que inclou els principals elements estructurals: ubicació de murs portants, obertures en els murs, sentits i llums de l'embigat, estintolaments a plantes baixes i caixes d'escala. De l'analisi tipològica s'obtenen i parametritzen uns tipus representatius del conjunt que donen lloc a un seguit de models estructurals. Els models resultants corresponents a les estructures de mur d'obra de fàbrica de maó s'analitzen a partir d'una simulació mitjançant elements finits en un càlcul elàstic amb les accions verticals normatives. S'estudien detalladament els punts més crítics de cada tipus adaptant els models a les diferents mides extremes que es donen en ells per així poder obtener els rangs de tensions que s'hi donen i avaluar les condicions de seguretat. Per últim, es constrasten els resultats obtinguts de l'anàlisi amb la realitat de l'estat patològic dels edificis estudiats. Es descriuen els danys més habituals i les causes que els generen comparant-los amb els resultats obtinguts de l'anàlisi estructural dels models. Les conclusions i aportacions de la tesi doctoral abasten els següents ambits: mostratge i definició tipològica de l'edifici històric de l'Eixample, coneixement del model estructural, comportament estructural, límits de seguretat i conclusions referents a l'estat patològic. Aportacions transversals que aprofundeixen en el coneixement de l'edifici historic de l'Eixample de Barcelona proporcionant dades sobre els seu comportament cap a una conservació més conscient
