Esta tesis se centra en el análisis, modelado circuital y aplicaciones de líneas de transmisión cargadas con resonadores eléctricamente pequeños (por ejemplo, resonadores de anillos abiertos -SRR- o resonadores de salto de impedancia -SIR-) sujetos a consideraciones de simetría. Los resultados obtenidos en esta tesis expanden el estado del arte en el marco de líneas de transmisión cargadas con resonadores i líneas de transmisión basadas en metamateriales. Por esta razón, primero revisamos la teoría fundamental de metamateriales y resonadores eléctricamente pequeños.
