Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in men after lung cancer. Around 1.1 million men worldwide were diagnosed with PCa in 2012. PCa depends essentially on androgen stimulation for growth and cell survival. The androgen receptor (AR) is a nuclear hormone receptor that is activated by androgenic hormones and the protein through which the physiological effects of androgens are mediated.
