This vessel was built at Collingwood, Ontario in 1916 by Collingwood Shipbuilding Company Ltd.She was of 2,060 gross tons. She was owned by the Imperial Oil, Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario until 1959. From 1917 to 1961, she was known as the "Imperial Kingston." In 1959, she was owned by A. B. McLean and Son of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. In 1961, her name was changed to the "Charles W. Johnson." That year she was changed to a sand and gravel barge
