The values of differential heat and entropy of adsorption of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide obtained at 295 K and 298 K, respectively, for a series of microporous active carbons have been analyzed in order to determine the nature of adsorbate/adsorbent interaction. The content of primary active centres in the microporous carbon samples was determined from the adsorption isotherms of water vapour. The adsorption data of carbon dioxide were interpreted by the equations of the theory of volume filling of micropores. The degree of heterogeneity of the microporous active carbons was evaluated from the characteristic parameters of the equations applied and the thermodynamic adsorption data.
