Add to ORKGIncreasing dependence of work on technological systems presents operators with various cognitive demands. Just as human work depends on technology, so does the safe and effective functioning of technological systems depend on operators. Operators are often involved in handling multiple tasks which requires prospective memory processes in fulfilling the task demands. Prospective memory failure can lead to serious losses. In the pursuit of future improvement of technology and utilization of human capabilities, researchers need to look at operator characteristics such as monochronic-polychronic task handling behavior and expertise to reveal performance differences of operators
