The development of unconventional aircraft designs complicates the conceptual design process of aircraft. To manage this increased complexity, it can be helpful to automatize part of this process. The further development of a tool for this automation, called the Initiator, is central to this thesis. The Initiator is a modular tool for preliminary sizing and design analysis, but the currently implemented design of the vertical tail in the Initiator is very basic. The goal of this thesis is to extend the design methodology for vertical tails in the Initiator and thus to develop a rapid aerodynamic analysis method for initial vertical tail design.
