This study aims at understanding the factors influencing the organisational adoption of eHealth by Dutch hospitals. This study proposes a model for organisational eHealth adoption based on the Technological-Organisational-Environmental (TOE) framework and elements of the Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory. The following factors were identified and included in the model for examining their influence on organisational eHealth adoption: centralisation, size, organisational readiness, top management support, and absorptive capacity.
