A relação ainda não discutida entre repositórios institucionais de acesso aberto e teses e dissertações eletrônicas no Brasil: um convite à reflexão

It can be considered that open access to scholarly information in Brazil had its genesis marked by SciELO initiative in 1997 and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) in 2002. Although they have developed under the technological conditions and policies prevailing at the time, somehow, today, you can understand that both efforts represent the two main movement enabling strategies: the publication of open access journals (golden road) and the second the archiving of scholarly literature in digital repositories (green road). Since then, both the first and the second strategy developed substantially in the country and print systemic and operational specifics of the open access movement in Brazil. One of these peculiarities concerning the proliferation of institutional repositories (IR) to manage the national scientific production in coexistence with numerous digital library of theses and dissertations (ETD), which are part of BDTD. In principle, such a situation would not mean any problem if not for the fact that the ETD for many reasons, constitute one of the first and main types of IR content.
