Políticas de preservação digital no Brasil: características e implementações

A digital preservation policy serves as legal advice for managing the preservation and permanent access to digital objects created, selected and stored by their respective companies or institutions, and assists in overcoming the technological obsolescence of objects as well as the medium that supports them. Such policy is developed based on resolutions, regulations, administrative acts, laws, models and standards. It can be analyzed from the organizational, legal and technical aspects. Furthermore, a policy of digital preservation can be inserted in a wider preservation program, as declared by the Guidelines for the Preservation of Digital Heritage, developed by the Australian National Library and published by UNESCO in 2003. The Guidelines have served as the conceptual basis for the major international projects and initiatives in digital preservation. In Brazil, few institutions and companies have established a digital preservation policy. Among these, only the House of Representatives and the University of Campinas developed a comprehensive policy and have published it in their respective websites
