The first section of this paper is a brief literature review of experimental studies of the carotid sinus baroceptor reflexes. The last section is a study of the blood pressure responses to electrical stimulation of the carotid sinus in the mongrel dog. The response to a steady stimulus of negative electrical pulses applied to electrodes on the carotid sinus wall showed that in most cases stimulation was predominately of the baroceptors with minimal chemoreceptor stimulation when the frequency was relatively low.
