We determined a detailed three-dimensional seismic velocity structure of the crust and mantle to a depth of 800 km beneath southern California using local and teleseismic data simultaneously. We used 131 372 P-wave arrival times from 6437 local earthquakes and 12 134 travel time residuals from 193 teleseismic events recorded by 251 seismic stations of the Caltech-US Geological Survey Southern California Seismic Network. Compared with previous local and teleseismic studies, the station coverage is considerably improved, and the number of data used is greatly increased in the present study.
