Seesfish landings in India during 1998-02 showed an increasing trend as had been witnessed over the last five decades (1950's-1990's). However, the rate of increase through successive decades continues to show a decreasing trend. The annual production varied from 42,478 t in 2001 to 54,871 t in 1998 with an average of 48,847 t, forming 1.9% of the total marine fish landings of the country.
