The clupeoid group which is composed mainly of commercially important fishes like sardines, anchovies, white baits, Hilsa etc., contribute to a third of the total marine fish production of our country. The analysis presented in this article is a part of the work carried out by the author under "The biological investigation of some of the important teleosts of the Kanara coast."
