Assess the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Programme on Child Birth Process among Primi Mothers at Elango Nagar MCH Centre and Medavakkam Upgraded Primary Health Centre

This quantitative study aimed at understading the effectiveness of video assisted programme on child birth process among primi mothers at Elango Nagar MCH Centre and Medavakkam Upgraded PHC.”. 60 primigravida mothers (30 experimental and 30 control) were selected as study subjects by convenient sampling method.Video assisted programme was shown to experimental group. The tool used for the study includes anxiety rating scale and co-operation -observation check list. The objectives of the study were to assess the anxiety level of primigravida mothers regarding child birth process among the experimental group and the control group, to assess the effectiveness of video teaching programme on child birth process among the experimental group and to associate the findings with the selected demographic variables. The difference of the anxiety score between experimental and control group was 22.33 and for the co-operation mean difference was 5.1. The findings of the study showed that comparison of pre and post assessment of anxiety and co-operation status between experimental and control group mothers were significant (p = 0.001). It reveals that video teaching programme on child birth process plays an important role in reducing the anxiety level and also in increasing the co-operation status among the primigravida mother. Video assisted teaching is effective in reducing the anxiety and increasing the co-operation status of the primigravida mothers during delivery. It is a safe and easiest method of teaching only. This study highlights the need for adopting this type of teaching for mothers in effective outcome of delivery
