Codakia orbicularis is a large tropical member of the bivalve mollusk family Lucinidae which inhabits shallow-water sea-grass beds (Thalassia testudinum environment) and harbors sulfur-oxidizing endosymbiotic bacteria within bacteriocytes of its gill filaments.
