Abstract

Abstract: Several mafic to ultramafic intrusions with a size of <10 km2 are located to the west and the south of the 18 000 km2 Proterozoic Kunene Anorthosite Complex, on the southwest margin of the Congo Craton. The focus of this study is on the Hamutenha, Caongoquepia and Serra Cangala mafic-ultramafic intrusions located in Angola. Serra Cangala and Caongoquepia crop out as bouldery hills, whereas the Hamutenha intrusion is relatively flat. The Hamutenha intrusion is layered and consists of cumulate ultramafic (dunite and harzburgite) rocks that make up the middle zone, and mafic (acicular diorite and equant diorite) rocks that make up the northern and southern zone.
