Abstract: The vast empirical literature on pay inequity reflects extreme interest from various stakeholders such as policy makers, economists and social groups, including employees and trade unions. Less interest is observed from employers due to the legislative obligations. The literature review is consistent in that pay inequity is a reality, and irrespective of the efforts by policy makers and courts, pay inequity persists. Researchers have made convincing observations with regard to providing individual reasons that seem probable to justify pay inequity for claimants.
