Abstract: While global tourism developed greatly during the 1970s and 1980s, South Africa was excluded from this trend and involved in the politics of apartheid (Allen & Brennan, 2004: 18). However, with the end of apartheid after the country’s democratic elections in 1994, South Africa flourished as an international tourist destination. South Africa, complemented by twelve official languages that contribute to the country’s attractiveness around the globe (Law for all, 2019; Utne, & Holmarsdottir, 2004: 71), therefore remains a notable, must see tourist destination that has so much to offer.
